Diagnostics
Diagnostics at Lukovska Banja represent a thorough and systematic process of assessing patients’ health status, encompassing a combination of medical examinations, ultrasound analyses, specialist tests, and evaluation of the body’s functional condition. Examinations are conducted in the medical block of Hotel “Planinka” and within the pool complex, where patients have access to modern medical equipment and a professional healthcare team.
The standard diagnostic procedure includes taking a detailed medical history, a clinical examination, assessment of the bone and joint as well as the musculoskeletal system, ultrasound examinations of the abdomen and joints, and ultrasound measurement of bone density (osteodensitometry). This comprehensive approach enables the physician to clearly identify existing health issues, determine indications for balneological and physical treatments, and create an individualized therapy plan tailored to the needs of each patient.
Purpose of the examination
The primary goal of the diagnostic process is the accurate establishment of a diagnosis and assessment of the degree of damage to tissues, joints, and other body systems. The examinations also allow for the identification of risk factors, prevention of potential complications, and planning of appropriate therapy, which may include balneological procedures, physical therapy, individually adapted exercises, and, when necessary, pharmacological or surgical measures. Diagnostics also enable monitoring of therapy effects during the stay at the spa, which is especially important in chronic conditions as well as in rehabilitation after injuries, fractures, or surgical procedures.
How is the examination performed?
The examination begins with a conversation with the patient (medical history), during which the physician collects information about symptoms, previous illnesses and injuries, lifestyle habits, and family medical history. This is followed by a clinical examination that includes observation, palpation, assessment of mobility and functionality of the affected regions, as well as basic neurological and vascular tests when necessary. Ultrasound examinations of the abdomen allow assessment of internal organs, while ultrasound of the musculoskeletal system provides insight into the condition of joints, tendons, ligaments, and possible inflammatory changes.
Ultrasound osteodensitometry provides reliable information on bone mineral density, which is of great importance for the early detection of osteoporosis and other disorders of bone metabolism. All diagnostic procedures are carried out in accordance with modern medical standards, with an individualized approach to each patient, in order to ensure an accurate diagnosis and high-quality preparation for further therapeutic processes.
Duration of the examination
The length of the diagnostic examination depends on the complexity of the patient’s health condition and the number of required procedures. A standard examination by a spa physician usually lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, while ultrasound examinations and osteodensitometry may require additional time depending on the indications. Overall diagnostics may take longer, but each segment of the examination is carefully organized to provide the patient with a complete, precise, and professionally guided health assessment, enabling optimal therapy planning and maximum utilization of the spa stay.
