Diagnostics
Diagnostics at Lukovska Spa represent a comprehensive and systematic process of assessing each patient's health condition through a combination of medical examinations, ultrasound diagnostics, specialist assessments, and evaluation of the body's functional status. Examinations are performed in the medical center of Hotel "Planinka" and within the spa's pool complex, where patients have access to modern medical equipment and an experienced healthcare team.
The standard diagnostic procedure includes a detailed medical history review, clinical examination, assessment of the musculoskeletal system, ultrasound examinations of the abdomen and joints, as well as DEXA scanning. This comprehensive approach enables physicians to accurately evaluate existing health conditions, determine the indications for balneological and physical therapy treatments, and develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to each patient's specific needs.
Purpose of the Examination
The primary goal of the diagnostic process is to establish an accurate diagnosis and assess the extent of damage to tissues, joints, and other body systems. Diagnostic examinations also help identify risk factors, prevent potential complications, and plan appropriate treatment, which may include balneological procedures, physical therapy, individualized exercise programs, and, when necessary, pharmacological or surgical interventions. In addition, diagnostics allow physicians to monitor treatment outcomes throughout the patient's stay at the spa, which is particularly important for chronic conditions and rehabilitation following injuries, fractures, or surgical procedures.
How Is the Examination Performed?
The examination begins with a consultation and medical history review (anamnesis), during which the physician collects information about the patient's symptoms, previous illnesses and injuries, lifestyle habits, and family medical history. This is followed by a clinical examination, including observation, palpation, assessment of mobility and functionality of the affected areas, as well as basic neurological and vascular tests when indicated. Abdominal ultrasound examinations provide an evaluation of the internal organs, while musculoskeletal ultrasound offers detailed insight into the condition of the joints, tendons, ligaments, and any inflammatory changes.
DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scanning is considered the gold standard for accurately measuring bone mineral density and assessing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Thanks to its high level of accuracy and minimal radiation exposure, this diagnostic method enables the early detection of reduced bone mass, monitoring of treatment effectiveness, and timely planning of appropriate therapy. All examinations are performed in accordance with modern medical standards, with an individualized approach to every patient, ensuring reliable diagnosis and optimal healthcare.
Duration of the Examination
The duration of the diagnostic examination depends on the complexity of the patient's condition and the number of required procedures. A standard consultation with the spa physician usually lasts between 30 and 60 minutes, while ultrasound examinations and DEXA scanning may require additional time depending on the clinical indications. The complete diagnostic assessment may therefore take longer, but each stage of the examination is carefully organized to provide patients with a thorough, accurate, and professionally guided evaluation of their health, allowing for optimal treatment planning and maximum benefit from their stay at Lukovska Spa.
