Cervical syndrome

Cervical syndrome represents acute or chronic pain in the neck, which is associated with limited mobility of the neck and circulatory disorders. Very often, the pain can spread along the arm, when we talk about cervicobrachialgia, or spread to the back of the head, when we talk about cervicocephalic syndrome.

In the area of the C2-C7 vertebrae, there are joints where degenerative changes develop first on the posterolateral parts of their bodies, which lead to ossification, which leads to pressure on the nerve roots, and circulatory disorders.

Clinical picture: The main symptom is pain in the neck, occasionally spreading to the thoracic part of the spine, which leads to limited mobility of the cervical part of the spine. Cervicobrachialgia, in addition to pain in the neck and along the arms, also leads to sensory disorders (paresthesia, hypoesthesia) and weakened reflexes. Cervicocephalic syndrome is characterized by pain in the neck and back of the head, which can be accompanied by dizziness, nausea and ringing in the ears.

The diagnosis is made on the basis of history, clinical examination and radiological diagnostics.

Treatment in the acute phase begins with rest, analgesics and, if necessary, short-term administration of glucocorticoids to calm the inflammatory process.

After the acute phase of pain subsides, treatment with balneo-physical procedures is recommended.
Thermomineral, sulphurous water in the pools within the hotel in Lukovska Banja, which is also rich in calcium, magnesium, sodium and bicarbonate ions, is particularly beneficial for patients with cervical pain. Swimming and hydrokinesitherapy (a program of exercises performed under the control of our physiotherapists) are recommended daily, during your entire stay in Lukovska Banja.

Along with hydrokinesis therapy, it is possible to include mud therapy, electrotherapy or laser therapy, ultrasound therapy and other types of therapy in agreement with the spa doctor.

The use of balneophysical procedures is recommended twice a year.
